September Update

Hello and happy September from Garden 58! Can you believe it’s almost October?

There is so much we are excited to share with you, thank you for, and ask for prayers on. Since school has been back for a little over a month, it only seems right we talk about Pinwheel first!

  • Over the summer, we completed an extensive amount of building renovation this summer. Many people pitched in with labor & many others with donations of supplies and improvements for our tutoring space - we cannot express our gratitude enough.

  • Due to the building renovations, we are resuming two days a week of Pinwheel & Firefly since we do not have the same venue limitations as last year! Not only that, we are also able to welcome many more tutors this year.

  • Knowing that the family is the first support for the students we have the opportunity to work with, we are starting an after-school care pilot program to support working parents in our community. This begins on September 23, just two days away!

In addition to the Pinwheel excitement, More Than Enough has been growing and we are getting closer and closer to being able to carry out some really beautiful work.

  • The last time we touched base, we needed to raise funds to join Promise 686. We are thrilled to announce God has provided the $2500 needed to join Promise 686 as an affiliate. We are now a part of the Promise network.

  • Red Oak Church members have volunteered to launch a Care Community first from Red Oak, then from other churches interested in doing so. Are you curious what a care community is? We are planning to share on our Garden 58 Instagram later this week, so be sure to follow along.

  • We are almost done with the main setup so we can use the Care Portal! This is the main tool we are planning to utilize to communicate needs & needs met to the community & participating churches.

Revolving Door is also making big leaps and gaining traction within our community.

  • We praise God that support is increasing for women in the jail & their families through awareness, additional volunteers, and generous donations toward the establishment of the transition home… updates are coming soon on that, too!

  • Individuals are responding with creative ideas: One lady volunteered to send notes & treats to ladies' kids when they have birthdays, while another donated funds for transitional safety on the way to a longer term program after leaving the jail. Do you have any creative ideas to support these women and their families? It would be wonderful to hear and see more inspiring ideas take flight.

  • Recently, we conducted a collection of "whites" to show the ladies we care about their dignity- we are so grateful for a truly generous & loving network of women who are so ready to respond to the needs of others.

As you can see, there is so much to celebrate, thank God for, and ask His support in over the coming months. Thank you for the support and continues prayers as this year continues to fly by.

If you are interested in volunteering with one of our ministries, offering financial support, have some fantastic ideas you’s like to help get in motion, or any questions, please reach out through our contact page! We look forward to connecting with you soon.
