More Than Enough

The national average of families who quit fostering within their first year is about 50%.
...we need to create support for these families so they can foster longer and stronger.
— Promise 686- the Problem

Many churches in Cherokee County have sought to support foster children & families for years in a variety of beautiful ways.

We hope to unite these caring members of the community through More Than Enough by training & equipping Care Teams/Communities as a source of prayer & practical support for families encountering the social services system.

We aim to provide these families with stable, effective support that could help keep their home thriving, not just surviving, through the difficult & the beautiful days of foster care and adoption.

More Than Enough builds relationships between community support members, foster and adoptive families, and social workers.

More Than Enough gives support to foster & adopted children through time, tutoring, and provisions. It will support foster & adoptive parents by helping with practical needs and personal care. By accomplishing the above, we will also support overloaded social workers. Through this support we hope to reduce disruptions, burnout, & compassion fatigue of workers & parents.

More Than Enough hopes to provide space to grow through building a community that normalizes & even celebrates asking for & receiving help! When this happens, the foster & adoptive community will become a safer & more welcoming space.

Fostering is a tough job. Without support, it can feel nearly impossible to continue. ...but when supported by a Promise686 Family Advocacy Ministry and its Care Communities, 90% continue fostering into a second year.
